Scripture to Memorize
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
II Timothy 2:15
Lesson Overview
This week’s lesson underscores the importance of courageously suffering and diligently laboring for Christ. As you study the material, keep the following three points in mind. First, believers are involved in a lifelong battle against heresy. Second, Christians need to be strong in the Lord and prepared to teach others the truths of faith. Third and finally, religious frauds will try to bog Christians down in needless arguments over senseless matters. God’s people should avoid getting entangled in them and devote their energies to serving the Lord in productive ways.
Live Awareness
For most of us the prospect of suffering for Christ is not pleasant. Yet, the Bible teaches that at some point in our lives, we will experience hardship as believers (Acts 14:22; II Timothy 3:12). Instead of being depressed or enraged when we experience adversity, we should recognize the good things the Lord is trying to produce in our life. He is seeking to develop our character and make us more Christlike (Romans 8:28-30; James 1:2-4). As this week’s lesson makes clear, He wants us to be strong in faith and resolute in our commitment to Him.
