How do we navigate life when we are surrounded by darkness? Darkness can disguise and disturb. It distorts what’s real and disorients our sense of direction. In this life, we encounter the darkness of uncertainty, discomfort, and discouragement. But what if darkness was never meant to frighten us, but to humble us? What if it’s God’s invitation to embrace our human vulnerability and lean into trusting Him more?
The resurrection narrative gives us hope in our darkest hours. When Mary Magdalene visits the tomb, her world is draped in grief. Her teacher is dead. Her heart is broken. Yet Scripture says, “Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark…” (John 20:1, NLT). While it was still dark—Mary moved. She brought her devotion into the unknown.
Darkness doesn’t mean the end. It might just be early. Could your current darkness be the dawn of a new season? Relationally, financially, emotionally—it might still be dark, but that doesn’t mean God isn’t already moving. Mary came early and to her surprise, she found the stone rolled away. She came expecting a Crucified Christ and discovered a Risen Redeemer. So if you’re in darkness, take heart—resurrection is coming because in Christ, believers are made to rise.
Keep rising!
John 20:1 NLT Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.
