Still Growing

Here are Pastor Hillman’s notes from Sunday’s sermon…

God is committed to ensuring that we continue growing and fulfill our divine destiny. Although we might endure disrespect and even oppression; the nearness of God’s presence in suffering safeguards our creativity as an abundant and strong people. Growth is discerned by our desire to continually develop, discern what we are building, and praise God for what he has blessed us to endure.

Sermon Scripture: Exodus 1:1-14

Point #1: God’s covenant commitment is essential to our development and not respect for our contributions. Verse 1:8 Now a new king arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.

Prophetic Confession #1: Everlasting Father, thank you for being committed to our growth by protecting our development even when others ignore our contributions.

Point #2: God’s covenant commitment helps us to see what we have built and not what others dislike about us. Verse 1:11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to oppress them with forced labor. They built supply cities, Pithom and Rameses, for Pharaoh.

Prophetic Confession #2: Prince of Peace, we love you for being dedicated to our growth by showing us what we have built even when our shortcomings seem larger than life.

Point #3: God’s covenant commitment reminds us that divine presence in suffering is how we endure and not our oppression. Verse 1:12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread, so that the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.

Prophetic Confession #3: Spirit of Wisdom, we worship you for being devoted to our growth by revealing your presence as the key to us enduring our suffering.
